Every Athletic Director wants their school to be successful and win championships. That’s no different for Westwood High School Athletic Director Brady Pond, but he knows that winning isn’t everything.
“We recently did a ceremony for our unified Special Olympics team,” Pond said. “Winning championships is fun and I love winning games, but being there for the moments of our special needs students and creating events and opportunities for them has been some of my most gratifying moments as an Athletic Director.”
Opportunity has been a prevailing theme in Pond’s five-year tenure at Westwood High School.
“I’m a big believer in creating opportunities for my student-athletes,” Pond said. “I think that being an Athletic Director is the perfect fit for me because I’m able to give them those opportunities.”
Athletic events provide opportunities for student-athletes to showcase their hard work and create lasting memories. Pond expressed that GoFan has been helpful with managing his athletic events and schedules so he can focus more on engaging with his students and running the program.
“Now that we’ve had our state association integrate the GoFan ticketing into our scheduling system, it automatically schedules it,” said Pond. “It’s one less thing I have to sit down and input into a spreadsheet or into the dashboard. So they’ve made it really easy for us as athletic directors to free up our time to do other things.”
Fan and community support are key in making athletic events great, and when asked how the community has enjoyed GoFan digital ticketing, Pond said:
“We also do the Box Office app with our card reader. Between the card reader, having that at the gates, and the app itself with the QR codes, I feel like we have a little bit of something for everybody. So if people maybe don’t have the technology down, they’re able to give us a card right there at the ticket office… we’re able to basically take care everybody from 8 to 80.”
